Tips and tricks for removing stains
Everyone runs across a stain they just aren’t sure how to treat. Woolite® Carpet and Upholstery has created an easy-to-use guide to help you tackle tough problems. The number-one tip is to start cleaning spots as soon as possible using the recommendation best suited to your situation.
General Stain Removal Tips:
- To remove semisolid stains, gently scrape up with a spoon or spatula. Do not use a knife or other utensil with sharp edges because it could damage the carpet or upholstery.
- Blot liquid stains with a white-colored absorbent cloth or paper towels. White materials are recommended because certain dyes could bleed and make the stain worse.
- Remove the remaining semisolid stain and residue with a sweeper or vacuum.
- Before beginning your full-scale cleaning attack, be sure to pretest any carpet or upholstery stain removers on an inconspicuous area first. This is extremely important, as different dyes and materials can be damaged or discolored by cleaning solutions or stain-removal products. If such a change should occur, try a different carpet or upholstery solution or call a professional.
