12/14/2006
Hand-held Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner Touted as One of the Best New Household Products
GRAND RAPIDS, December 14, 2006 – Good Housekeeping announced BISSELL’s Woolite pod™ as one of the best new household products of 2007 at its 12th annual "Good Buy Awards" ceremony. The winning products, highlighted for their innovation, performance and value, were recognized by Good Housekeeping Editor-in-Chief Rosemary Ellis in New York.
"We are proud to have the Woolite pod™ selected by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute as a 'Good Buy Award' winner," said Jim Krzeminski, BISSELL’s executive vice president of product development, sales and marketing. "We are excited to win accolades from one of the most trusted sources of consumer information in the marketplace and look forward to continuing to create more innovative and consumer-driven cleaning products."
The Woolite pod™ is a small, hand-held carpet and upholstery cleaning tool that uses an oxygen-activated formula to remove tough spots and stains like red wine, coffee, cola and pet messes. It was chosen as one of nine "Good Buy Award" winners out of roughly 2,000 entries.
"There are so many products out there to choose from that we feel consumers need a filter, and that’s what the 'Good Buy Awards' are all about," said Ellis. "This year’s winners are both creative and inventive, and are designed to ease the chores and tasks that face all of us daily."
The Good Housekeeping Research Institute selected the award winners based on their ingenuity, value and exceptional performance. Each product selected for a "Good Buy Award" was required to meet the following criteria:
- Satisfy a well-established household need
- Be innovative in technology or design
- Be affordable to consumers
- Perform well in Good Housekeeping Research Institute evaluations
"Our honorees have to fulfill two needs: They have to be both cleverly designed and useful in solving consumer problems," said John Kupsch, Technical Director, Good Housekeeping Research Institute. "After many hours of testing and evaluation, these are truly the best of the best and we’re pleased to welcome them to the winner’s circle."
The "Good Buy Award" winners will appear in the January 2007 issue of Good Housekeeping, on newsstands December 12, 2006.
